A 'Little Women' Series is Coming to BBC

The novel will be adapted for a contemporary audience

Louisa May Alcott's 1868 novel, Little Women, has been adapted to the screen not once, not twice, but over 7 times. From animated shows to feature length films, Little Women is no stranger to adaptations. Call the Midwife creator, Heidi Thomas, is now adapting the novel for a modern audience on BBC1.
Thomas said, “Its humanity, humour and tenderness never date and as a study of love, grief and growing up, it has no equal. There could be no better time to revisit the story of a family striving for happiness in an uncertain world and I am thrilled to be bringing the March girls to a new generation of viewers.”

Little Women follows 4 sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March on their journey from childhood to adulthood. The BBC1 series is looking to “speak to contemporary audiences” and “bring a whole new generation to the story." No cast has been announced for the series, but we can't wait to find out!
